Jon has been a barrister and member of 18 St John Street Chambers since 1999. After taking his degree at Hull University and then studying for law at Guildford College of Law, Jon started his legal career as a qualified Solicitor in 1986 and progressed to being a partner in North West Solicitors’ practice, establishing a history of specialising in Children, Family and General Practice for 13 years before transferring to the Bar.

This has enabled Jon to have acquired almost 40 years of experience in matrimonial financial remedy proceedings, financial, property and cohabitee disputes, and family and children matters. All of which has enabled him to develop an excellent client outcome-focused practice, with an eye for relevant detail and the effect and relevance of broader issues when dealing with financial, property and family matters. This brings strength when considering negotiation and dispute resolution outcomes. High value cases, pre-nuptial and post separation agreements, non-disclosure issues, property portfolio and foreign property matters, farming and company related cases are particular strengths.

This background has carried over into his established practice at 18 St John Street. He is now a strong and respected advocate in matrimonial finance, cohabitee, same sex disputes, and detailed financial analysis is such as to lead to practical and outcome focused advice.

Jon has a cool, calm and approachable manner, putting clients at ease. He simplifies the most complex cases and has built up a nationwide practice, regularly travelling the length and breadth of England and Wales to represent clients before all levels of court.

In 2013 Jon became accredited to receive direct access instructions covering all financial and family issues and provides ongoing support and advice whenever necessary.

Jon represents clients at Private FDR hearings and is available to sit as a Barrister Judge.
