Representatives of 18 St John Street headed to London yesterday for the Lexis Nexis Family Law Awards Ceremony, in which 18SJS was shortlisted for two awards.
18 St John Street Chambers’ family department narrowly missed out on both regional Chambers of the Year and Clerking Team of the Year.
The Family Law Awards brings together solicitors, barristers, and family law specialists from across the UK. They were established in 2011 to recognise the important work of family lawyers and to celebrate the success and achievements of those working in this area of law.
The event, hosted by impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw, was held at the glitzy Park Plaza Hotel in London on Monday night and there was stiff competition across all categories.
The clerking team was highly commended in their category, but they were just out of reach of London powerhouse set, 1 Garden Court, who also won London Set of the Year. Congratulations also go to St John’s Chambers in Bristol who won regional set of the year, just ahead of our own family department.
Although we sadly fell just short this year, an entertaining evening was enjoyed by all.
Head of 18 St John Street’s Family Department Leonie Caplan commented: “The Family Law Awards are one of the highlights of the calendar year and offer our barristers and clerks a valuable opportunity to catch up with our peers, our colleagues and friends from across the UK. We were honoured to be shortlisted and hope that next year we can go one step further but would like to congratulate all the nominees and the worthy winners.”
Special congratulations go to our good friends Stephensons solicitors, who came away with the enviable prize of being awarded northern solicitors of the year.
We look forward to coming back stronger next year.
