JAMES MILLER TO SPEAK AT MANCHESTER LAW SOCIETY ‘FUTURE STARS’ EVENT

3rd Mar 2025

18 St John Street’s James Miller is honoured to be a Guest Speaker at an upcoming event celebrating the launch of Manchester Law Society’s 2025 ‘Future Stars Programme’.

The ‘Future Stars Programme’ has been created by Manchester Law Society’s Educational Foundation Trust to support people wishing to enter the legal profession in the Manchester, Salford and surrounding areas, by offering practical and financial support.

The Programme will admit up to 10 Future Stars annually who may otherwise find it difficult to enter the legal profession as a result of financial or other disadvantages.

In his role as Guest Speaker, James Miller joins a panel which includes Shakira Akhtar (Apprentice Solicitor, Eversheds Sutherland), Fiona Ledden (Senior Solicitor, Manchester City Council) and Paul Johnson (Corporate Partner, Ward Hadaway). The panel will be discussing their experiences in law since qualifying and inviting questions from the Future Stars.

In addition to speaking at the event, James has agreed to be a mentor to one of the Future Stars throughout 2025, offering his guidance and support.

The 2025 launch event takes place at 5pm on Wednesday 5th March 2025 at Evershed Sutherland’s offices, Two New Bailey, 6 Stanley Street, Salford, Manchester, M3 5GX.

The Future Stars page on the Manchester Law Society website states:

The Future Stars Programme is designed for those living in the Manchester, Salford or surrounding areas and who have a genuine interest in a career in the law. Applicants will need to demonstrate a need for practical and / or financial support in progressing their future career in the law, together with a genuine commitment to pursuing a career in the law.

Successful applicants will be entitled to apply for financial support from the Education Trust throughout the duration of their education, which can be used, by way of example, towards travel costs, workwear, IT provisions and textbooks.

The Programme will also entitle successful applicants to a broad range of hands-on experience through individual mentoring, training programmes and exposure to law firms and barristers’ chambers.
