We’re sure you’ve heard by now that many of us at 18 St John Street have signed up to complete a fitness fundraiser. We’re doing 5K of exercise, 5 days a week for 4 weeks (alongside alternatives) and then making a charitable donation based on how much we manage to do!
We’ve chosen to donate to charities that are connected to our practice areas. And split the funds between four charities we feel strongly about. Last week was our first charity reveal – so here we are with our second…
We’re thrilled to say that another one of the charities we’ll be donating to is Mercy Corps. Mercy Corps ‘act as a connector, a collaborator, a catalyst, and an advocate for change’. Having been around for forty years and helping more than forty countries, they have helped and continue to help communities to flourish in the face of disaster, poverty and under the stress and effects of climate change. They connect people to the resources and opportunities they need in order to ‘build strong, stable livelihoods’. Their focus areas include agriculture, cash and voucher assistance, climate, environment, energy, COVID-19 response, emergency response, financial inclusion, food security and nutrition, gender equality, governance, market development, peace and conflict, resilience, social ventures, technology, water, sanitation and hygiene, and youth.
So we have chosen them as one of our charities, simply because we think it’s an amazing cause, and it’s dear to our hearts – especially the heart of our family department.
We’re doing well in the challenge so far. Many people smashed their targets in their first week and are on track to reaching their personal fitness goals. So, fingers crossed we can keep up the momentum this week too and get fit for fundraising!
Keep your eyes peeled for our next charity reveal and for any #fitnessforfundraising updates. Wish us luck (and stamina)!
