John has a wide ranging Business and Property litigation practice covering diverse areas including personal and corporate insolvency, directors’ duties, fraud, asset recovery, company, partnership, contract, residential and commercial property, landlord and tenant, trusts and contentious probate.
John’s insolvency practice includes both corporate and personal insolvency, he acts for any interested party including insolvency practitioners, fixed charge receivers, directors, banks, trade creditors and bankrupts. John regularly advises on the merits of bringing or defending antecedent transactions.
In the area of directors’ duties, John has developed a wide ranging practice regularly pursuing and defending claims brought against directors including defending claims brought under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.
John has a particular interest in breach of trust and asset recovery claims, His contentious probate practice includes claims brought under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975.
John was originally called to the Bar in 1994 and qualified as a solicitor in 1997. Having spent over 20 years as a solicitor, John returned to practise at the Bar in 2019. Before returning to the Bar, John was most recently a partner in a major UK firm leading the contentious restructuring and insolvency practice in the North West. Prior to that, John was a partner in a major international law firm.
