Stephen Killalea QC and Kane Simons recently had the High Court approve a settlement of a brain injury case for a man in his mid-fifties for a lump sum of £2,650,000 and a PPO of £275,000 (full liability values of £3,150,000 and a PPO of £323,000 p.a.). The double up 24/7 care package was a “hybrid” of direct employment and agency.
A particular appeal of the settlement was the fact that no reverse indemnity was given in respect of local authority funding.
